Review
I have thoughts on this. It’s very good, don’t get me wrong, but I think it could be better. First of all, it’s very easy to make. All you have to do is take it out of the freezer, cut a 1-inch slit in the plastic film, microwave it for 3 minutes, take it out and mix it, throw it back in the microwave for another 2-3 minutes, and it’s done! The flavor of the bowl is delicious – a nice tahini flavor and all the veggies compliment each other well. Another thing I love about it is how healthy it is. The entire bowl is 280 calories, has a good amount of protein (13g) and a low amount of carbs (27g). It could be the perfect snack as is or meal if you add some things to it or on the side.
Here’s my biggest issue with this… there isn’t enough sauce or sustenance. The tahini flavor is great, but it really doesn’t feel like there’s any sauce in there. Additionally, with the entire bowl being only 280 calories, it’s just not enough to keep anyone full for a while. Here’s what I have done and what I recommend to make it better – put some brown rice or any rice in a bowl, throw the (already heated up) cauliflower bowl contents on top of the rice, put a big spoon of tzatziki on top, and squeeze on some lime as a finishing touch. Adding those few things is a game changer for the overall enjoyment and fulfillment of the cauliflower bowl. You don’t just have to take my recommendations, you could add any sauce to this bowl and it’d probably taste good and have any carb, fat, or protein along with it to make it more filling.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this bowl to someone interested in a healthy meal option at Trader Joe’s and who is willing to add some things to it to make it even better. It’s nice to know that TJ’s has a super healthy frozen meal option that is so easy to make – for that reason alone, this item is worth it!
I hope this helped you make up your mind on whether to try this frozen food item from Trader Joe’s or not! Thank you so much for reading this post, if you have any questions or comments, leave them below. For more Trader Joe’s food reviews, check out this page!
