It’s bujo time baby! I began my first bullet journal at the beginning of this year, and let me tell you, I don’t think I’ll be going back to a regular planner any time soon. It’s so nice having a completely personalized and customized planner that I’m in full control of. I create a different theme every month, which is one of my favorite parts! I love thinking of a fun theme that will make me happy for the month ahead. This months theme: birds and watercolors! I felt like channeling my inner child by bringing out the paints. Here’s my June 2021 bullet journal spread!
materials used
- Archer & Olive A5 Falling Skies 192 Pages Dot Grid Notebook (the best bujo book)
- Mechanical Pencil
- Hi-Polymer Block Eraser
- Sakura Pigma Micron 03 Pen
- Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens – Medium Point
- Angora 36-Pan Watercolor Set
The first page of the monthly spread is the month planner/calendar. The boxes in the calendar are each 6 dots wide x 7 dots tall – I find that that’s enough room to write some events and birthdays in the boxes. I also included a section for notes. Not gonna lie, I’ve never really used the notes section in my spreads, but I just like knowing that they’re there in hopes that I’ll utilize them someday!
After the calendar page, I there’s a “highlight of the day” page and a “mood log” page. I’ve experimented a lot with these pages in the past. For the highlight page, I fill in one line per day with the top highlight of the day. I’ve changed around the way I do the mood log many times. Normally I draw little doodles for each day and fill them in with a color that represents my overall mood for the day. For the past two months I’ve been changing it up. I make it the same format as the highlight page, and I fill in one line per day with a general synopsis of my mood(s) for the day.
Next up are the “habit tracker” and “workout tracker” pages. Both of these pages are so helpful and really help to ease my anxiety and the constant thoughts going on in my head. I find that if I track my habits and workouts, I don’t have to think about them and where I’m at with them as much, because they’re all written down. I don’t know how to explain it, but just trust me when I say that they’re super helpful!
The last section of my spread consists of my daily planner! To save room in my bujo, I prefer to have one whole week on one page, so that the daily planner portion of my spread only takes up four full pages for the four weeks in the month. I have tested out many different formats for the daily planner, and this one is by far my favorite and pretty much exclusively the one I use. The boxes are 9 dots wide x 13 dots tall. For me, there is plenty of room to write everything I need to for each day. I highly recommend trying this setup out!
I get that it’s not for everyone, but if you haven’t tried bujo-ing yet, I truly recommend giving it a try. I feel so much more organized and my thoughts are way less scattered because of this magical journal. It’s also so fun to create each page and to think of fun themes for each month. There are no rules to bullet journaling – customize and personalize yours however you like!
