The July 2021 bullet journal theme is.. wait for it.. a picnic scene! I absolutely love how this month’s spread turned out. It feels very summery and happy and easy breezy beautiful and I love it!
Inspiration Behind The Theme
Full transparency, I did not come up with this theme on my own. A few months ago, I watched AmandaRachLee’s YouTube video for her July 2020 bujo theme and I loved it, so I decided I was going to make my rendition of a picnic theme for July 2021! The main difference with our designs is that I used lots of colors and she stuck to a monochromatic design – both great options!
Materials Used
- Archer & Olive A5 Falling Skies 192 Pages Dot Grid Notebook (the best bujo book)
- Mechanical Pencil (for sketching everything out)
- Hi-Polymer Block Eraser
- Sakura Pigma Micron 03 Pen
- Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens – Medium Point
- Crayola Super Tips Marker Set (the staple markers for bujo-ers)
Layout
CALENDAR
The first page of the monthly spread is the month planner/calendar. The boxes in the calendar are each 6 dots wide x 6 dots tall – which is small, but there’s definitely enough room to fill in birthdays and events. On the left side, there is a section for notes and a section for affirmations, cause sometimes we all need some lil affirmations ya know!
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH AND MOODS OF THE WEEK
We’re changing it up with these spreads this month. Normally I do a “highlight of the day” page and a “mood of the day” page, but July will be a bit of a busier month for me, so I didn’t want to put pressure on myself to fill these pages out every day – alas we have a “highlights of the month” section, where I’ll write down highlights throughout the month whenever I feel like it. There’s also the “mood of the week” section, where at the end of each week I’ll write a few quick sentences about my mood(s) of the week inside the picnic items (definitely stole this idea from AmandaRachLee)!
HABIT TRACKER AND WORKOUT TRACKER
Although I don’t always do the best job of filling these two pages out every day, I still love including the “habit tracker” and “workout tracker” in my spreads because it’s comforting to know I have them if I need them to help clear some space in my mind!
DAILY PLANNER
We’ve made it to the last and most used section of the spread – the daily planner pages! The layout that I used for the daily planner pages is almost exclusively the only layout I use. I love having one week per page and I find that there is plenty of room to write out all my plans, to-do lists, and notes for each day. The boxes are 9 dots wide x 13 dots tall. You’ll notice on one of the picnic blankets, there’s a birthday cake and that’s because my birthday’s this month! 24 years old baby!! Can’t wait to see what this year will bring!
This month’s spread was so fun to create. It’s elegant and minimalistic while also being very creative and fun! I encourage you to embrace your creative side and start a bullet journal of your own – there are no rules, just try it!
