How to: Turn the Yellow Stitching Black on Doc Martens

Hi friends! A few months ago I bought a pair of Doc Martens and I absolutely loved them as is, but I knew I could love them a little bit more with a quick DIY project to turn the yellow stitching black on Doc Martens! The process was so easy and I’m here to confirm that they remain just as waterproof and resilient with this DIY – the integrity is not compromised at all!

A quick and easy step by step guide on how to turn the yellow stitching black on Doc Martens! A DIY chelsea boot upgrade!

#goldenoath #docmartens #drmartens #diy #diytutorial #drrmartensdiy
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Black sharpie
  • Black shoe polish (I used the one from Doc Martens)
  • Paper Towels

How To:

Step 1

Go over the yellow stitching with the sharpie. Make sure to clean excess sharpie that gets on the boot with a paper towel (you only want the sharpie to be on the yellow stitching). Repeat this step again. (All in all you’ll be going over the stitching with sharpie two times)

Step 2

Go over the yellow stitching with black shoe polish. Apply the black shoe polish with a small paint brush and make sure to fully saturate the stitching with it. It’s okay if you’re a little messy with the polish, because you’ll clean it off in the next step.

Step 3

Wait about 5-10 minutes for the polish to sit, then with a paper towel, gently rub off the polish from the stitching/sole of the shoe, you’ll notice that the polish stays on the stitching and comes off of the sole.

Step 4

If there is still yellow stitching peeping through or if you want extra assurance that the stitching will stay black, then go over the stitching one more time with the polish and wait another 5-10 minutes and then clean it off.

Step 5

Viola! You’ve got Doc Martens with black stitching now!! Enjoy!
