Recently I got these nails done, and friends/family/Pinterest followers seem to be loving them, so I thought I’d share a blog post about them in a lil more detail! I don’t regularly get my nails done at salons, as I normally do them myself with gel nail polish, but I felt like it was time to go all out and get a fun new set to start off the Summer.
I got them done by Sam at Top Nails Spa & Waxing in Thousand Oaks, CA. I highly recommend this salon, they always do a great job and the people are all so friendly!
Details about the nails:
- Shape: almond
- Bio Sculpture Gel (instead of regular acrylic powder which is bad for nails)
- Base Color: OPI Bubble Bath Gel Polish
- Blue Color: DND Blue Bell Gel Polish
I loved these nails, but there was one con about them.. the price. They were much more than I expected them to be, but I don’t regret getting them at all because they were so fun and brought me joy. They were $80. YIKES!! Halfway through getting them done my manicurist told me the price of them and at first I wanted to run, but then I realized it made sense. She said they were more expensive because I got Bio Sculpture Gel instead of regular acrylics, which is much much better for your nails as acrylics really ruin the nails.
The only reason I thought it’d be helpful to share the price of these nails is because I go on Pinterest all the time and I see beautiful nail and nail art inspiration and people are constantly posting pictures of their beautiful nails on Instagram and Snapchat. Getting your nails done is fun, yes, but very expensive. If I got nails like these with designs on them every few weeks, I’d be spending wayyyyy more money than what is really in my budget. Occasionally I treat myself to fun things like these nails, and this was one of those times. I don’t want anyone to feel bad about not being able to get their nails done or not being able to get expensive designs on their nails. Beauty is NOT determined by looks or the services that you can or cannot afford. Let me tell you, three years ago I started doing my own gel nails on myself and it has proven to be an insanely affordable service that I get to do myself and I don’t ruin my nails like how getting gel at salons used to ruin my nails. All I’m trying to say is that you are beautiful no matter what and you don’t need anything to enhance your natural way of being and looking.
I will say, these nails lasted beautifully for 3 full weeks. They would have actually lasted longer, but I was getting sick of them so I took them off at the 3 week mark. One of my pinky nails fell off at 2 weeks, but I glued it back on with nail glue, and it stayed on for the remainder of the time. Here is the progression of the nails:
The nails really did age beautifully and I’m so glad I got them done. Next time you get your nails done or feel like treating yourself, I recommend trying out this fun design!
